Fiordland National Park

Taken on a trip through Fiordland National Park in New Zealand, en route to Milford Sound. The bus driver said this was his favorite view in the 50 countries he had been, so of course I took a photo.  © 2012 by Bridget Ehemann

  1. Being there, not just Fiorland, but New Zealand, that’s been my dream for such a long time! And I’m still willig to get there, somehow! 🙂

    1. How cool for you to spend so much time there, it is one of the most beautiful places I’ve seen. Did you ever run across a guide named Wattsie? he was the guide who stopped the bus so we could enjoy this view

      1. no, didn’t meet Wattsie. Which company were you with? there are a few that do the runs in there. what was your most enjoyable spot? did you see any wildlife?

  2. I have always wanted to go to South Island yet haven’t the time and opportunity!! Really gotta make that dream come true one day!!

  3. WOW! I wish our bus drivers get to travel in 50 countries like your countrymen…most likely, they wouldn’t miss out on this part of the world on your photo!!! :))

  4. I’m from Florida which is flat and recently moved to Indianapolis. I have never seen real mountains. This photo is gorgeous!

  5. New Zealand seems to be a lovely country.. seeing it through fellow blogs and pictures.. WIll surely visit the country once 🙂 till then keep posting lovely pics like these..

  6. This pic reminds of the phrase from the song “Turn the page”

Here i am, on the ROAD again.
There i am, up on the hills
Here i goooo, playing in the nature again
There i go, Turn the page

  7. these mountains are… intimidating! Takes your breath away even through pictures…

  8. This photo is amazing! I also really like the one in Notre Dame Cathedral, Mekong River, I could go on. Your pictures are more than beautiful, you actually capture the breath and essence of what you are photographing.

    Namaste and many blessings***

  9. Great photo! Be sure to get plenty of Milford Sound, it’s one of the most beautiful places in the world… very sad I never got a chance to go there whilst I lived in the north island of NZ.

  10. We just got back from a hike through the national park to Milford Sound. It was amazingly beautiful. Nice shot of the dichotomy of forest and ice. If you’re interested, check out my pictures from NZ….

  11. I love, love, love New Zealand! Been lucky enough to visit it four times. The road to Milford Sound in Fiordland National Park has some of the most spectacular scenery in the world. Beautiful picture! Cheers!

      1. Hi Bridget. For next year, my suggestion is to visit those places you haven’t gone before and if there is spare time, revisit those places you love. Doubtful Sound is another place in Fiordland National Park to visit where there is less people and waterfall but the solitude is golden. Try water rafting nearby Queenstown and Rotorua or kayaking in Fiordland National Park, Nelson, Picton and in North Island – Coromandel or Hahei. If you haven’t been there yet, try Mt Cook National Park, Lake Tekapo and Wanaka in South Island. I have a list of NZ articles and links if you need information and views of first hand account. Till then, have fun travelling and photographing!

  12. learn how to make a free website with a real domain name (not a subdomain)and a free webhosting plan, learn it on my article blog-

  13. As if I needed any more incentive to want to visit New Zealand! Is it really as beautiful as they say and it seems??

    1. you should visit! They say it is beautiful any time of the year – even if it is raining, it means there are waterfalls all around Milford Sound. Enjoy your trip! 🙂
